At the Border

We traveled by minibus approximately 6 hours from Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong yesterday. The ride was nice since they didn't overpack the bus, and the scenery was quite pretty. We are finally away from all the exhaust and noise of the larger cities, and enjoying a day of clean air and relaxation. We will be here until tomorrow, when we will take the ferry across the Mekong to Laos. We have one night on that side of the river, which you can see in the pictures, and then we get on a boat to head to Luang Prabang. It should be about a 9 hour trip on the river, and the scenery is supposed to be spectacular. These pictures aren't great, but they're all we've got right now. These were taken from our porch at the guesthouse. You wouldn't believe the noise at night from all the river critters. I am terrified that I might run into one of the giant frogs.

Sounds great. I miss not seeing pictures of you two. Be on the look out for creatures.
